I realize that there is sticky in this section on this but I still dont really get it. What all do I need t purchase to re-upholster the armrest on the door panel and how exactly do I do it. Where can I get the materials needed and what material is it exactly?? Velvet?? I dont freaking know... lol... Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
First you need to fill out your information on your car. Since you have not done that, that would explain why no one has given you any advice on this matter.

What material can you use? Well.. basically anything will work, unless you want it exactly as it was when it was stock.
You'll want a material similar to what is on there, something thicker and with a slight stretch to it - go to a fabric store and look around. I believe Wal Mart will even have a fabric section. The material on the armrest is similar to what you'd use on a couch or a chair.
If you have a 95-99 like myself, I haven't actually taken the door panel out before, but it looks as if the upholstered portion is removable and is some type of backing molded to shape the door panel.
All you have to do is get that out and if you want it to look good take out the old fabric. Get some spray on glue (spray on contact cement) and spray the bare armrest panel until it is decently coated with glue, let it sit until it is a thick and tacky consistency. Do the same to about an inch or so of the backside of the panel, where you will wrap the fabric around to. Cut out your fabric so it matches the panel size plus about an inch or so. Press the fabric onto the panel and make sure there is no wrinkles on it and fold over to where you sprayed glue on the back. The glue should have sat long enough so that the fabric holds to it and doesn't want to come loose.
If the armrest panel is thick enough to accept staples, then definetely pop a few of those in there from a staple gun so that the fabric holds in place.
Try looking in your local phone book in the yellow pages for fabric stores they have a wider range on what your looking for walmart i find is more for the dress making person you'll need a more thicker mat, it doesn't hurt to add a thin foam first with a 3m spray glue i gives it and nice full look and ya some staples in the back A armrest is the greatest way to learn your how too's good luck
