Hey guys I got a question, My friend just got his 96 z24 and in the process of checking it for rust we pulled up the rear cover for the spare tire and found about 4 gallons of water in the pan. How would that much water get in there? Where did it come from? how do we fix it so it doesnt happen to either of our cars?
it happed to mine once NOOO idea how it got in there but i sucked it all out and never had that prob again
Yeah the thing is we cleaned his out and on the very next day after it rained it was back in there again. I want to make sure that doesnt happen ne more expecially if we are putting a system in the car.
Empty the water again.
Pull down the rear seat.
One of you get inside with a flash light.
The other one: take a hose and run it over the trunk area.
Watch for leak.
My guess, Tail light seal is shot.

The guy we bought the car from put some cheaper aftermarket tail lights in the car so your probably right. I will try the idea to be on the safe side though.
Thanks for the help.
Yeah i've seen it on some of the other guys car. Not mine yet knock on wood.. i'd take off everything in the trunk. side interior moldings, Carpet, Tire, etc could be a rust hole near the wheel well, Rubber trunk molding, Loose tail light Use a hose and a buddy to stay in the car ...In the shop i work at a guy had a car that had a (pool) in his back floor under the seat we looked everywhere and nothing. Till we put the car on a hoist we found about four newspapers between the gastank and the floor the guy told us he put it there to stop the rattle??? not to mention the 1 gas strap hanging down ... anyways the news paper acted like a sponge and water would seep in and the carpet kepted it there nice eh! .......i'm sure this isn't the same thing with yours
