question about clockspring

Is it possible to install an aftermarket hub and wheel without removing or cutting the clockspring and plug? I'd like to have the ability to switch back to an airbag wheel if necessary, or when it comes time to sell the car.

all u do is remove the steering column panels, and follow the airbag clock spring wire till u find a connector.. disconnect it and just pull it out with the clockspring once u remove the C-clip(slip-ring or w/e its called.. thne if u need to put it back in for any reason just reinstall it and walah.

Manta, thanks. After searching a little further on here I found that little tidbit of info. I'm just waiting out a few ebay auctions right now till I can find the deal on a wheel. I already got the tilt lever loosened up, and am ready to do this. I've read on some other forums, VW I think, that if I remove the wheel, it's not illegal unless I sell it that way, but as soon as there is money changing hands for the work, that is when it becomes illegal. Something about the thought of an explosive staring me in the face when I get into the car bothers me. We drove for close to ninety years without them, I don't see why I can't make the choice to o so now. Anyway, thanks for the reply. You've been helpful as usual.
