i want to light up my floor boards and my dome light with blue LEDs to come on when the door is opened
i know where to wire the dome light to accomplish that
but i dont know where to wire the floorboard ones

IIRC, the door pin is 12v when the door is opened.
wrong, the door pin is ground when open.

Ok, then, run a 5-pin relay using 87a as the power out. When the door is closed, the relay will energize, cutting power to 87a. When the door is open, 87a being the normally closed pin will allow the lights to function.
.... why not just splice into the wires leading to the doom lights and use them to power the floorboard lights? the doom lights turn on when the door opens so why not do that? just a thought and it keeps it simple. you could splice it nearly right after the dimmer switch.
Depends, that would work too if the o/p wants the same "fade-out" effect as the dome light.
