Quick LED cluster question...
Monday, August 21, 2006 4:50 AM
I've been looking all over for a post I read in one of the other threads about changing the colors of your gauge cluster with leds. I know that there are 4 or 5 #194 leds that are used to replace the stock bulbs behind it, but someone posted about using multi-directional bulbs. My question is which multi-directional bulbs can I use? Do I have to make the holes the bulbs go into bigger to make them fit or will they fit in the back of the cluster without having to mess with the openings. Another question that just came to mind is, I think I remember someone saying something about not being able to do this to the 2003+ models... Is this true? I need to know because I don't want to order the leds if I can't do this to my 03 sunfire, and even if I can I want to get the brightest multi-led bulbs that will still fit behind the cluster. I don't want to order them and have to order others agains just because of the fitment.

There is a thread about changing the color of the 00+ clusters. I'm not sure what the difference is.

As for multidirectional bulbs, they're talking about LED's....standard LED's are highly directional, so you end up with inconsistant color. The multidirectional ones are either multiple LED's clustered together pointing in different directions, or diffused LED's with an almost prism shape in the lens so that the light reflects all around instead of just lighting up one point.

4 multi directional leds and you can buy sockets to attatch the bulbs to so you dont have to mess with the other ones at least for pre 00+ and the odometer has two 74 bulbs I believe i'll send you the file.
