found some info on plastic welding and bonding, but not sure if it's the right method for what i want to do. i got a plastic speaker cover to put over the area where the stock ones are on my door panels. i'm just looking to dress up my the panels a little. i read about a plastic welder, but don't know how it would look afterwards. i'm guessing it's just like a regular weld that needs to be sanded to blend in with the rest. well, i want to keep the stock look, i.e. keep the texture, so no sanding. will just a regular plastic glue be enough to hold it in place? wasn't sure with the constent shutting of the doors and what not
thanks
is there 4 holes where you would normally bolt it in? if so, id just drill out the 4 holes, and screw them down. then u dont have 4 open holes that look wierd.
but if not, you could try JB Weld or maybe even gorilla glue on the inside. epoxy would work as well. just be careful to do it on the inner lip that wont be visible on the outside
hope that helps
Plastic Welder works great, although it is an epoxy.
I have used some sort of clear plastic cement, not the Testors plastic model glue, but rather one that dissolves a thin layer of each surface to form a welded joint as strong as the surrounding surface. That was used only on plexiglass though, so I have no idea on how strong the application was.
