Thursday, August 31, 2006 2:05 PM
Ok so im on a tight budget since i just bought my audio equipment and my carpet in the car is filthy(due to the owner before me) so I was wondering if when i do my install and take the carpet out what is the best way to clean it really really really good? Then im gonna get some black dye and go over it alot and brush it inbetween coats to keep it from getting all hard and stuff.

for a carpet since its flexable i would take it out put it in the washing machine and then triple ( or more) thrash bag it, fill it with water and clothes dye and leave it like that in a bathtub for a day or two, drain, rinse, dry, and reinstall.

I had a buddy who took the grey carpet out of my Jeep, and he hit it with Krylon Fusion in black, the stuff they make for plastics. I laughed at him, HARD.

And then I saw the finished product. It looks factory. I have no idea how it works as well as it does, but it looks great, and feels great too. You'd think it was black material. Just another suggestion.

They make spray dye for carpet...

Why don't you save up for new carpet... don't go the ghetto route... you'll always regret it later.
