Hey guys I used to have a 99 Z24 that i was working on glassing my stereo into but a rather large tree put a damper on that project last winter. Anyways today i picked up my new ride silver late model 02 ecotec Z24 kickass condition and still has balance of factory warranty on it (its a lease return) and I am going to begin work on the stereo install again. For my door panels i want to mold my woofers(51/4) and possibly the tweeters undecided yet in a pod shape facing the opposite sides passenger now I've worked with fiberglass before and am confident i can make the panel piece but I don't want a painted glass look to it I want it to look custom molded but with stock paint/texture does anybody know a good quality way to do this that will look stock?, the interior colour is black. I heard from someone that if you primer it and then mix sand in with the flat black paint i would use and use a sponge to put it on in a wiping motion that it will dry like the stock plasitc texture and then use a no gloss clear coat to seal it. has anybody on the org ever seen this done or have any idea if this will work or not any input is appreciated thanks
check out products from SEM. they make a textured paint that if done right will match the factory panels, then you just have to paint it to match
-------------
There really isn't musch information on the SEM website about thier products I am not sure what one your talking about is there a better place to find info on this paint?
I will try to post some pics in a couple of days on how I do it to get the factory finish using spayable bondo.
