ok i was wondering i know most of u guys f/g thing right but i dont have the time for that
i was wondering if i used bondo across the dash like just mixed it and slaped it on there let it dry and sanded it like nicely tilll it was smoth and @!#$ think that would work ?
might be a dumb idea but it might work and would be a ez way to put on more gages and @!#$ just screw them down and bondo lol but member this i dont care about wieght cuz its gunna be a show car in the end not performance it wont be handeled or touched much what u guys think ?
well 1 if you just add bondo to the stock dash, it wont fit back on do to the extra thickness applied by the bondo. when people fg their dash they peel off the vinyl on the dash and then glass it. adding layers and layers to get the thickness back.
also you cant add more guages by bondoing them onto the dash. bondo is made to use to fill in small imperfects and when you sand it 95% of the bondo comes off. its used to fill in low spots for body work.
i'll be nice an answer this one. bondo should not be built up thickly on items. esp like the soft top of yoru dash, it will crack over time. and if you have enough time to add filler over the dash piece then you have enough time to fiberglass. the process is the same except for the cloth you will add to the fiberglass. and even after you do the fiberglass you will still add filler over the top to sand it smooth. you dont use filler to make shapes and forms. you use filler to just smooth out what youve made in fiberglass.
think of fiberglass as cake and filler as the icing. if you just tried to make a huge cacke out of icing it would give way and wouldnt hold its shape. but if you make a cake in the shape you want, then you can just smooth icing over the cake to make it look nice and smooth. same way here. your fiberglass makes the shape and the strength and the filler is just to smooth it out.

ty i was just wondering cuz well i have never f/g yet so idki was sceptical if i wanted to try
for now i think i'll just take the panels of the interiour and paint them much ezer and idk how long i plan on haven the car for ty
well if you want to learn to glass theres a bunch of online forums for it but please dont start on something as big as your dash. get a piece of plastic and try glassing it first
lol idk i'm sort on money and i just wanna get a better look and make it feel more my own u know i already toke the rear seats out and made a custom box for 4 6and a half inch speakers my x-box 2 amps and a 20 inch lcd screen but just looking to put a colour code in affect
and the custom bow is made from mdf just sanded round on the dges and wraped with cloth so it looks like its all one peice // f/ged
not to badly any way
ps - bondo is a brand of products, and a crappy one at that. the term you are looking for is "body filler"
and glassing is easy. if you can mix filler correct, you can lay glass correct
idk likei said i'm sue to wokrin on older cars u know things u just gut the @!#$ outa them roll bar it wrap everything in sheet metal and drop the biggest engine into
unfortinitly its not like that with cars nowadays
this is why i think i might do some more work on this sunfire my it s sound comp car and sell it then look around for a old cultess
i wish i could find a 1972 cutless 4-5-5 god dam would i be happy
if not a 1986 would be nice and still i could get enuff hp outa it look at like 500-600 at lest
any one know where i could maybee get a nice cutless? other then autotrader and @!#$ and its got to be in ontario closer to t.o if it can be
thankz
