I have decided to fiberglass my dash, and i know after being a member here for 5 years, that a lot of u guys n girls have done it. ive search through all the search button has to offer, but no for sure ways to do it. i kno that i have to drill holes, and fiberglass the bottom of the dash and such, but my questions are as follows.......
1- do i have to take the vinyl covering off?
2- if so, what all do i have to do to make up the gaps that that will leave when its re-installed?
3- do i have to brace the dash pad thingy, or will it be alright un braced just sitting on my workbench?
4-is there anything else that i need to kno goin into this project?
i kno i got more questions, but i just cant think of em right now.......

yes, peel off the vinyl and the only gap you should have on the base piece should be the airbag cover, i used fiberglass matting over it and used 3 layers on the dash

im pretty sure he's referring to the gap he will have when the vinyl is gone. since the vinyl makes the dash that much thicker. you have to glass up to compensate for the fgap.. like if u were to take off the vinyl and put it back in like that, the plastic under the vinyl is very thin when compared to fully covered in vinyl
so to answer the quetion, u need to add layers of glass across the whole dash to get it back to normal thickness
ok, and also i wanna to do it so that my air bag is still fuctional, jsut pull the vinyl off of that also and just do it the same as the dash pad?

theres no vinyl on the airbag cover...its all plastic. just sand and paint.
its held on by 7 or 8 bolts underneath the pad
k, thanks for all the info guys, next payday, im gonna start on my dash
