I glassed, filled and palm sanded up to 220 and then hand sanded 400 and 800

for interior panels unless you are adding to them there is no reason to fiberglass them. personally on my interior i took a palm sander to everything to get the texture off, and then came back with more fine dry paper, then did the fine sanding after getting primer and base down with wet sanding. i have not tried this, but from what i am told, if you wetsand earlyer it will make everything go alot smoother. as far as less ware and tear on the paper, which i do know. not to mention less clogging. just kinda have always done it the same way, never had a reason to change. but in any case good luck with your project, and keep us posted!

i didnt use adhesion promoter at all. just sanded smooth with an orbital and mouse sander, and also by hand areas the sander wouldnt get. went up to 220 grit. the sprayed with a high build primer, and wetsanded that with 400 grit, then sprayed the base and clear, then wetsanded the clear with 2000 grit and then buffed it back shiny.

Same here. I dry sanded until smooth, then sprayed a high build primer, wet sanded with 400, then sprayed the base and clear. No adhesion promoter at all. Only reason I know of for using water when sanding is to keep the paper from clogging.

my paint on my door is going on 5 years old without a single issue. as long as you sand and prep properly the paint will stick to it fine.
