Fiberglassing in winter?

Hey everyone,

I recently moved away from home, where my parents had a heated, big, separate garage at my disposal in the winter, and a nice big yard in the summer, so I was just dandy if I wanted to fiberglass. Now I'm at university, my yard is about 20ft x 20ft and my neighbors are just accross the fence.

It's -20ºC and dropping steadily, but my garage is in my house. I can ventilate it by opening the garage door, but then I'll freeze my ass off, the resin probably wont harden EVER, and I'll freeze out the house.

Does anyone here fiberglass in the winter in my situation or close to it? If so... how?

i would run a macgyver'd huffer fan to the outside and heat the garage

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

buy you a heat blower, or a large enough electric heater, and if u have a door from the garage to outside, throw a fan in it facing out on low to vent. or even a window to the outside. my $0.02

adding allot of hardener will make the fiberglass brittle and weak.

i have close to the same delima. i have a garage now and a heater but the hvac is built into an alcove in the garage and if i fiberglass in winter the hvac picks up the fumes and circulates it thru the house. aaaarrrggghhhh. if you really want to do it, go out buy some plastic you can get like a 10'x20' sheet from lowes for like a couple bucks. then use some thin wood strips and make a 5' box out of the plastic, and stick a heater inside it. this should help contain the fumes and you now have allot less space to heat. make sure you keep the resin and hardener in this warm area as well. (heat up the area before u start working) just becareful not to catch the plastic on fire with the heater lol and also remember to wear your respirater.

Yeah, that sounds like the only way. I have a respirator, but glassing in small enclosed spaces has always been an iffy concept to me :\

i bought a huge torpedo, the only downfall is that i have to heat the whole garage and turn it off before i glass so the resin fumes don't get in the ignitor of the torpedo, also got a garage door sweep and insulated the roof of my garage and replaced all the insulation in the garage.
torpedo works good though
