Ive seen this done but not sure exactly how to do it and what modifying (wiring) needs to be done but how do you relocate the HVAC in a 96 Cav... Wanna customize the interior and move it somewhere and needed to know if its possible without a lot of difficuly... any ideas of where to relocate to?? I was thinking in front of passenger or maybe underneath the steering wheel?? Help would be appreciated... Thank You

In terms of moving the hvac to the passenger side you can do this without even needing to extend the wiring and vacuum lines.

here is my dash from 2 years ago...I just moved the hvac over there.

Then back in July I moved it to the center console. Since then I've started to build a new dash and I'm re-doing the console area to fit the climate controls better. This is what it looked like for a whole 2 months.

sorry, only pic I have actually

For extending the wiring that was easy..I went to the junkers, got another hvac unit, and just spliced the same colored wires together...that was a sinch.
The vacuum lines I got some clear tubing, and some heat shrink wrap, and slid the stock smaller vacuum lines into the larger tubing and used some heat shrink wrapping and a heat gun to secure it. i also wraped it in tape to insure it wouldn't come off over time.

The temp cable was a bit more work. If you get some bicycle break cable, you can splice that into the stock cable to control the temperature. You need to measure this while you complete the install however.

Hope that helps.

Sorry to jack,

What if you are just swaping the hvac and the radio locations, Do you need more cable, wires and hose?

By doing the passenger side, nothing needs to be extended, right?

moving towards the drivers side you will need to extend the wiring and vacumm lines and temp cable...
moving towards the passenger side you will NOT need to do any extensions.

All the wiring and vacuum lines come up from the passenger side of the dash.

Joey: Reason why I kept it...well im not to sure really...I can do without it I suppose, but on some days when driving to shows I was glad to have the a/c working, and rear defroster working. It's not a big thing to keep it or not for me, but I want to keep it for funcionality purposes. Trying to keep the car a bit more functional next year.

Really easy to move to the glove box but if its your daily driver I wouldnt think it would be very practical
