Modifying Stock seat sliders
Saturday, December 02, 2006 7:38 PM
Hey I've searched and found some topics on new seats and sliders but I haven't found any good instructions on modifying just the stock sliders with stock seats. Is there a way to modify the stock seats so that they sit back a little farther, I just need a few more inches of leg room, can anybody help?

Well, sorry to dig up such an old post .. but that's just the question I want to ask.. my passengers sit RIGHT in my way of looking out the window.... with the seat all the way back and straight up .. just frustrates me .. do I just need to make new rails that are longer? I'm not quiet sure how the whole set-up works .. can I make new & longer rails for the stock seats to sit on? Any help would be great, thanks

There is a post on how to make new mounts for your seats, and I am sure that if you measure correctly you could probably make it sit back farther and lower, that might help, and it will bolt up to your original or aftermarket seats, just a few holes to drill and some minor metal cutting. Or you can have any metal shop cut it to whatever length is required and just drill away. You should be able to get some good results.

Your best bet is to jsut take it outta the car sit down and look at it and figure out how it works and what you could do to make it sit back farther. Your options ar make the sliders sit farther back on the mounting place to the brackt or make the seat sit back farther on the sliders. Your other option is make the brackets sit back farther from where they mount on the floor. All of these options will make the seat sit a little higher due to having to make a bracket out of some decently thick metal so it will hold up in a wreck and wont bend from ya sitting on it. All these options are really simple once you get the seats out and look at them and put your mind to it. Hope that helps ya.
