Well I decided to change the Grey to black on some interior pieces on my 94 Cav. convertible. Drys fine on the plastic parts but stays tacky on the arm rests! I clean all parts with lacquer thinner first. Any Ideas?????? Thanks Marty
Because it's made for hard surfaces. There isn't a lot that will dry AND CURE on the armrest besides products intended for vinyl.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

Thanks! I thought that may be the problem. Being a semi retired sign painter, ive got black vinyl paint i use for banners, etc. I,ll try that root with my air brush or touch up gun! will let U know the results........ps...i,m impressed with your 12.5!!!!!!! I saw 1 89 Cav at Cayuga running a similar time.........very impressive. Thanks again, Marty
or you can dye the arm rest

at this point, if you already sprayed the paint over the armrests, the dye prolly isnt going to work. you prolly need a whole new set or just re-upholster(sp?) them all together.
He might be able to pull the paint off with some thinner? Not sure if it'd damage the vinyl itself though, but it'd definitely take the paint off. If the vinyl was okay after that, then he could go ahead and prep it properly for the dye. Just something I was thinking might work.
Thanks to all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Success! I used the thinners to wipe off the Krylon, then i thinned down my black vinyle paint & used my old Binks airbrush. Cranked up the heat in the garage & before you knew it, it had dried perfect! Guess I got lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
