Ebay Seats

I know how everyone feels about ebay products. But everyone has gotta ask something about them.
Would it be a bad idea to buy ebay seats? I know some people from here have done it and I just wanted to know if anyone regrets doing so. I could really use some new seats and before I dropped the big bucks I wanted to know if ebay seats would do. Feel free to vent.

To answer your question, you can buy brand name product on Ebay too and save money if you research and buy from reputable sellers with solid history of positive feedback. There's also plenty of decent non-brand product that ranges in price and quality. Use common sense. If it's too good to be true it probably is. However, even though you'll read a million opinions on various products, it really depends on your budget and personal preferences on stuff. If you are a brand name dropper and want the appeal of being able to say you have a blah blah blah brand this or that then go nuts. Bottom line is it's a freakin' Cavalier or Sunfire not a Ferrrari and as long as what you buy is not a safety hazard or breaks in no time, then I personally don't think there's a problem with Ebay product. I have bought and installed some Ebay product and have not been dissappointed with one item I bought yet in 4 years of driving this car. But that's just my opinion.

I got a set of ebay seats and love them personally. I know most people believe the latch to adjust the seat (top part forward and backward) goes out faster but so far no problems. It's all personal taste really. From what I can tell people just feel better saying they have Recaro or *** name brand seats in their car.

It really doesnt matter if you have a brand name.. ive also been looking into ebay bucket seats and the only thing i worry about is installing them, ive looked up seats that say they are for cavaliers but will they really just slide into the brackets plug and play style?

The ones that come with them won't fit. There are a couple of aftermarket slider sets that you can buy. Search them and/or you can do like many and as I did and just fabricate a set out of box steel or aluminum stock. Bolt the sliders that come with the seats onto these and away you go. Others find a way to bolt them onto the stock hardware too. Lotsa options if you search.

ebay doesnt make seats or any other car products. just because something is on ebay doesnt make it cheap or a crappy product. like said above you can find really good deals on brand name parts for really cheap. just keep a look out and dont jump on the very first thing you see.

I was gonna say the same thing, I'm getting tired of seeing people call things ebay this and ebay that. Ebay isnt a brand, its only a site where stuff is sold. Generic stuff and brand name stuff, you just have to be smart and shop around.

I got my seats off of Ebay and I didn't have a problem. They were the same set of seats they sell on A+ and what not, only I got them off of Ebay for about $90 cheaper then the websites had them for. Two seats, two sets of sliders for a little over $200, and everyone else wanted almost $300 for them. I got them in 5-days (shipped from California via UPS), the guy e-mailed me the tracking number and everything was good. Like it was mentioned before, just cause its on Ebay doesn't mean its bad. There are legit stores on there with good prices/deals. Its just with the amount of fraud bulls*it on there and junk, you have to search a tad to find it.

I also fell for it on Ebay though. The page said that you could buy seat brackets from Advanced Auto Pepboys, etc that would fit them into the car. Everywhere I went, no one had any idea what that product was, lol. I was able to find one company who makes the brackets for our cars, but they wanted something like $120 per bracket. I think they were called wedge engineering or soemthing. I ended up going through an JBO member (Section8Cav) and bought his custom seat brackets. I recieved them, bolted them to the seats, bolted everything in the car, and things have been good.

As for the seat lever on them going bad. Not that I've noticed really. I did find that if your seat brackets are lower then stock, the passenger seatbelt connection on the passenger floor does get in the way of that lever. Sometimes it will wedge itself next to the lever, sometimes it wedges under the lever and holds it up a tad, sometimes it does both. When it does that though, the lever won't fully lock, so if you put a lot of force into the seat (like someone sitting in it), the lever can release and the seat falls back (happend to my brother twice). I finally figured out why it was doing that, and I haven't had any problems with the lever since.

Somewhat like my seats.
If you look at the smaller picture of just the top part of the seat that's what mine look like. Same seller just different seats.

And that's the only picture I have of my seats.

Yeah, that ebay link I posted is the same seller but he doesn't have any more seats like mine. I was hoping to pick some up later on to do rear buckets but I might have to rethink that idea. And the ebay link seats are pretty cruddy looking.
