i hav an 03 cav and i wanna swap the stock gauge cluster out for 2 6.5" lcd screens. i have all the gauges, tach, speed, temp and fuel. now what i need to know is where the odometer readings come from, does the ecu store them?? also if im running hpt, can i view my odo. readings????

also when the idiot lights come on, will they throw a code that can be viewed through hpt???

im not sure on the odometer laws so i figured i should have one, even though i am gonna be the only owner

thanks in advance

i would ask the HPT questions in tuning forum, but im pretty sure the odometer reading is stored in the ECU. thats what allows people to swap to the sunfire cluster etc.

HPT will not allow you to view your odo readings. It will tell you what codes you have, but you need to have a way to determine if you have codes in the first place. As stated in your HPT thread in tuning, HPT is not meant to drive a digital dashboard like you are proposing. I gave you a link to a site (http://www.mp3car.com) that deals in EXACTLY the type of software you are looking for. If you didn't find it there, you weren't looking hard enough. If you still can't find what you want, start writing code.
