I am having a problem with the digital odometer on my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire. Basically, when I push the button to switch it to the trip odometer, it doesn't do anything. it used to work after about 10 tries or so, but now it doesn't seem to work at all. I am starting to think that maybe the switch isn't hitting the button on the circuit board. I tried taking it partially apart, but i can't figure it out.. has anyone else had this problem with a Sunfire, Cavalier or other type of car?
exact same thing happened to mine, back in 2001, took it to the dealer and they replaced the entire guage cluster. you can probably find one on eBay cheap.
take it apart and resolder it first. if that doesn't work, either buy a new one or just deal with it. mine does the same thing and some times doesn't even display my mileage correctly (looks like some alien language). seems to do it more in the cold. i've just learned to deal with it, cuz i don't want to swap a new one in at this time and be showing a completely wrong mileage of the car.
