ive heard that some cars came with a digital odometer in the older year cavaliers (95-99)
is this even true?
if so, anybody have a picture?

yes mines a 99 and it came with a digital odometer
'99 with digital as well. Just pulled it out to do a swap for one with tach and have it tore down so I can put colored 194 bulbs in the socket and rob the fuel level guage so pics are out of the question right now.
About halfway through 98 they started with digital odometers. Mileage is still stored in the cluster for those though, right up to 00.

yeah I have a 98 and it is digital
damn-that pisses me off. i must have an earlier build dated car
cuz as of right now, thats the only option i can tell that i dont have. i have EVERYTHING else, except that.
now... i have my eye on buying a digi 99 cluster from someone. would it be a plug n play type deal to work? obviously im thinking i'll have to have GM re-program the mileage on the digi. cluster for my car-if they even will idk though.
ive heard rumors of having troubles with the gas gauge not working properly after a cluster swap such as this-can anybody add on this?
is the trip meter also digital?

Z yaaaa I actually have a post on here about the fuel guage not working after a cluster swap, and from what I can tell GM cars up to '97 use a 0-90 ohm sending unit and '98 and up MAY have a 40-250 ohm sending unit, although if this is the case I believe the change would have been made in '99 because the fuel pump (which has the sending unit) is the same for 96-98 according to the part numbers (95 has a separate part # and 99 has a separate part #). I haven't had time to pull the cluster and swap the guages yet as this may fix it or it might be related to the pcb itself.
hmmm, so do you think that if i go ahead and swap out the clusters... and say the fuel gauge doesnt work any longer that if i were to go ahead and put the OLD cluster back in would the gauge then work as it used to?
idk, the person i was going to buy the 99 digi cluster from backed out and said they didnt want to sell it. so yeah, i'll have to try and find one somewhere else.

You'd just have to do the theftlock (passlock?) relearn again I would assume. I got lucky and it took the first time.
Nothing to do with anything, but what the heck, I have to make my first post sometime...
...99 Sunfire 2.2L Isuzu
so in theory since the milage is stored in the cluster a cluster with less miles can go in and have those less miles?
98 with a digi odo, I swapped from a non-tach to a tach cluster, still can't figure out why a 5 speed car didn't have a tach. I bought a new cluster thru work, I work at a Chevy dealer., no fuel gage problems, just good ole theftlock to contend with. Oh, and seeing as the cluster was new, I started at 1 mile on the odo and the Tech2 can't program the mileage, at least on a 98.

No, I have a Repair Order that says the cluster was replaced, due to the speedo not working, and the mileage when I replaced it.

Only pic I have that you can see it in. Older pic, currently, my HVAC is brighter, my cluster is blue, and the LEDs in the speakers are gone now.
I have a '99 with a digi odo too.

Why didnt you have it preprogramed with your milage? We had that done all the time when we replaced clusters, while I worked at a dealer.......
