Wanting to re-do my tan interior
Thursday, January 25, 2007 9:39 AM
I'm trying to get the interior in a little bit more show worthy appearance and i dont really like having a tan interior, most of the dash is painted and the door panels are next, but i still need to re do the headliner, the carpet, and a few other things that i can manage, but my question is, how hard is it to replace the carpet and to pull the headliner down to redo that? I also want to do the cloth on the doors.

can somebody point me in the direction of how to get started on this stuff?

pulling the carpet out is pretty easy. just remove the driver and pass. seats, the console, and the door thresholds. then lift on the rear bench seat and pull it out. you will also need to unbolt the bolts holding down the safety belts. but to be honest, i would spend the $115 on a new molded carpet from ACC Mats rather than trying to dye your stocker.

as far as the headliner, take the dome light cover off, un-screw the visors, and pull your rear side panels out a bit, and pull the retaining clips out, then slide it towards the front. slides out pretty easily. easiest to do this when the seats are out of the car.

for the arm rests, you will have to cut off the plastic welds, and re-wrap the arm rests. hardest part is finding a way to re-attach them, since u cant re0use the plastic welds once u cut them.

i used liquid nails once, and then i moved to billet bolts for more support

hope that helps a lil.

if u have any more questions, let me know

i believe the sunfire door panel armrests are detachable, unlike the cavs'.
