I was looking around my 97 Cav vert, and on the decklid, I saw an electric trunk popper solenoid. Where would the switch for this guy be? Ive looked in the glovebox, around the driver's seat, and in the center console...I dont see anywhere else it could be...
If you have a trunk pop on your car- the button would be located on the lower driverside dash- plainfully obvious.
If you do not have a button-- you can add a momentary switch/button to throw 12 volts to that black wire on the solenoid for elec. pop. Install the switch where ever you like.
Damn I knew I should've saved one of the 3 trunk popper buttons I had from the Sunbird
Okay, I dont have that switch anyway, and no key fob...I guess I'll have to have that set up when I get a keyless entry installed
Look in the trunk behind the carpet on the driver's side. There may be keyless on your car already. In which case you would just need a keyfob from ebay. Once you peel back the carpet, there should be a little black box with wiring going to it. That's a keyless entry module.

I'm going to have to check this out. My 'vert has the solenoid but no button or switch in the car. It might have come with keyless but whoever owned it before me lost the remote. So it'd be under the carpet of the trunk along the driver's side? I'ma go check it out.

Well...I'm looking around Ebay and things are looking a bit out of my range for now. Anybody know how much the dealer charges or does anybody have one they don't want?

that connector is your keyless relearn connector..not the trunk solenoid
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
That's what he was talking about. He knew about the solenoid (way too easy to spot) but didn't know if he had the keyless. The remote hunt continues...

What exactly does the solenoid in the trunk look like? I have aftermarket keyless & the aftermarket fob has a trunk popper button. That button doesn't do anything because the shop that installed my keyless said I don't have a trunk solenoid & it would be an extra $150 to get the trunk popper feature since my car didn't have the solenoid. Is that right or were they BS'ing me?
I don't have any buttons or levers inside the car to pop the trunk, and I have a '99 Z24. Could I just buy one of those $20 trunk popper kits that come with a button to put in your interior & just have that programmed to my aftermarket keyless remote so the trunk button would function?
Here's a picture of the inside of my trunk. The thing that's attached to the trunk latch isn't a solenoid?
That's the solenoid. I don't know why they said you didn't have one...

So I should be able to have the trunk pop button on my aftermarket remote programmed to function without having anything else installed? Is that a factory solenoid or does it look aftermarket? I can't remember if that was there before I had the keyless installed.
That looks stock to me.

If you want to hook up that solenoid to an aftermarket alarm- More than likely, a relay will need to be added to up the amperage of the output & probably change the polarity to positive...
Most alarms have a negative output w/ like a 500ma output...
k, i have a key lock and a pedal like thing next to the driver's seat to open the trunk...but my key lock won't work and i have no idea why...any helpful clues, tips, hints or nething to get my keys to open it?
thanks!
If it doesn't turn try turning the key slightly left and then right to open the trunk. Mine does that for some reason and it took me a while to figure out how to get it open. Worst case is they damaged the trunk, replaced it, but never switched out the locks.
