taking airbags out

will I get any codes if i take them out? if so, is there an airbag simulator that would get rid of the code?

I want to share something with you - the three sentences that will get you through life. Number one, 'cover for me', Number two, 'oh, good idea, boss', Number three, 'it was like that when I got here.'

You forgot number 4, "Yes Dear." If you remove the airbags, it will throw a code, and your airbag light will stay on. There are simulators you can buy, and someone on here is working on resistors that that will trick the computer into thinking the bag is there. T

I have a whole pack of the resistors. Had to buy in bulk from the place I got them. They work great. Haven't had an airbag or an airbag light in probably a month.

Cavette, do you have pictures and instructions on how you did this? I'm very interested.

It's just a resistor the you place inline w/ the airtbag plug. Basically one end of the resistor in one plug and one in the other. I think it's a 1/4 watt 2.2 ohm resistor.

So it's done by the plug under the dash? Where'd you get the resistor from? If someone did a how to on this, I'd vote for a sticky.

It's done at the connector for whichever airbag you're planning to remove. I had to order the resistors online because noone in my metroplex area sold them. There is not a how to on this, because I didn't really feel the need to take pics of something so simple.

Just make sure and have the ignition off and the airbg fuse pulled. Then you remove whatever airbag you want (or both). Place the resistor between the two prongs on the connector for the airbag. Tape, solder, whatever. Then reassemble everything. Put the fuse back in and turn on the ignition. There should be no light.

TADA!!!

You could pull the light out from behind the gauges.
