ok now heres one for you guys after taking the interior out of my cavi i found this black stuff sprayed all over the inside of the car on the metal under the carpet and door panels trunk and under the seats its suposed to be a sound detaning liquid in a rattle can but its junk will the fatmat stick to that or will i have to use wax and grease remover to get all of it off???

mine had alot of the same...my process was this, and mind u it was about 10 degrees out last winter when i did this.....

clean the surface first. i used a quick alcohol wipe down. not super detailed, but a quick dusting if you will. then take a hiar dryer or heat gun and pull the backing off the mat and heat it up. a few seconds should do it. then lay down in flat even incriments. and thats basically it.

What about that ice shield stuff for sound deadening. I heard you can get it at home depot. I've never seen it there, but never went there specifically to look for it either. Is this something to look into as well?

cant say ive ever heard of the ice shield stuff. so i cant comment on that.

as far as the black coating, i had some in my 03 stock. not completely covered, but mostly in the corners where body panels meet interior panels

That black @!#$ is in all the cars. It sucks badly. We are in the process of taking it all off the doors and floor panels now in my Cavalier. I had it also in my xB, SRT, and Solstice when I went to sound deaden them.

i'd rather pay a bit more and use fat mat or one of those alterntaives rather than use ice shield. some people like it, i think it sucks
