Anyone else have this problem? I barely fit inside my car, which is mainly due to the seat riser sitting to high, along with the moonroof eating up precious headroom. This is in addition to the seat not being very comfortable. I travel too many miles to deal with thus discomfort much longer. Has anyone lowered their seat riser or installed a new aftermarket seat and mount?
it sounds like you have Exactly the same problem as me. im 6'2 and it suxx driving more then an hour in my car. but my new plan is to take the 2003 mazdaspeed protege seats i have, cut the risers off and pretty much bolt the track to the floor.
part of the problem with the stock seats is the angle. i had a set of otto-r racing seats in my car, even though the seat sat about 1/2 inch higher then stock i had more head room.
my best suggestion for is to
A) buy aftermarket racing seats, but sometimes you will end up with less head room or not like the bolsters in the seat.
B) head to the wreckers and find a seat you like that will fit in your car (most small-mid size cars will) then rip them out. after that you can fab your own mounts to the best height for you.
i know seats from the celica, RSX, neon, Mazda protege, civic, echo, yaris, and quite a few other cars will fit height and width wise. i would like to see cobalt SS seats in a cavalier but im not sure they fit.
totally off topic here but we have a 2005 Nissan 350Z at work and the seats are super comfy, they look like they would fit in a cavalier but might be a bit wide. does anyone know if they will?

Get some measurements of the bottom of the seat (width/depth). Then compare that to the same measurements on a stock Cav/Fire seat. That will give a good baseline to start from.
