Hey I am just wondering if anyone can help me, im thinking of chaning my dash over to a sunfires. I am just wondering if its basically direct bolt on or if there is alot more to it than that. If anyone can help that would be great.
thanks
i know your have to change the door panels i think too
yea i figured that, im just wondering how hard it is to change
It's all direct bolt in.
To change the dash, you'll need the upper and lower dashes (and everything that goes in them), the door panels, and the metal framework under the dash.

itsnot that easy trust me ive done it...
what year is your cav? mines a 99, i started this project in november, just now starting to finish it up...
theres alot of things toconsider when doing this swapand be prepared to run back and forth to the jy a couple times a week.
mine is a 99 as well, yea I figured that it wouldnt be that easy. I am basically just doing it for the spot that cracks so its not really worth it, but thanks for your help. i have some decision making to do
yep, I did the swap, took me a week working on and off because i had to run to the junkyard so many times lol. you need the door panels, upper and lower dash, the metal frame support for the dash, a sunfire cluster and a little guesswork for when you splice the cav cluster harness into the sunfire cluster (Most of the colors match up). I painted my dash gloss black and i couldnt be happier with the results , other than the sunfire glovebox rattles!
oh even worse that you have a 99 that means youd have i repeat haveto have a 99 sunfire cluster... and it would have to be rewired.
and before anyone says anything a 98 cluster will not work in a 99, let me say that again, the cluster will work but the gas gauge will not cause in 99 they changed the sending unit... so 98 cluster will not work in a 99... trust me i tried it
Do you guys have any pics of your finished dashes? Just so I can get an idea and see if I really want to get started on all of this haha. Do any of you guys know if they have a cover I can get for the crack spot on the cavs?
why dont you just take the dash out, and either upholster over the crack or fiberglass it. it would be cheaper than the dash swap in the long run
Yea thats what I was thinking, just thought I would check. thanks thou, big help
