Cracked Dash - Part Interchange Q.

My dash is cracked!!

As are so many others. I know I could repair the top part but mine extends all through the part. I have cracks in my glove box and under my heater vents. Its pretty bad. Everything is repairable I guess, but for me to fix mine would definitely exceed my limited skills.

So, I have been junk yard surfing for a used one in good shape. I found one today and went through the trouble of removing it to discover that I needed one from a different year. I have a 2000 cavalier, The one I was pulling from was a 97 or 98.

I know externally the dashes are different but I had thought that under the pad and bezel the base was the same. I was wrong.

I searched these forums and a guy had posted a GM part number and said it was for 2000 to 2002 for the piece in graphite color. Thats mine!!. The part number he listed is 22670323.

I just wanted to make sure of this interchange years. is it correct that this part can only come from 2000 to 2002?

I am having a hard time finding 2000 or newer cavaliers in junk yards here. They are all 99 or older. I found one 2003 but it was all cracked to hell. If the 2003 had of been in good shape it wouldn't have fit? what changed from 2002 t0 2003? Minor changes are no big deal, but as I saw with the 97 part, it changed a long when it got up to 2000.

Thanks

doesnt matter. if he has the same dash crack as everyone else then he has to pull the lower dash anyway since its part of the lower dash. if its just the top dash pad thats cracked then he can swap the dash pad out. i dont think it makes a difference what year its from. only thing that really changed was the location of the radio and hvac so the 95-99 radio bezel is different then the 00-05 bezel

well i bought a spare dash already its out of an 03 though. and i have a 97. the bezel in the 03 does look a little lower where the stereo and hvac is. so my dash i have in my car now is coming out regardless i just wanted to know if i can still use my 97 bezel on the 03 bottom dash.

i have one for a off of a 2001 z24 FOR grabs/SALE posted here as i just sold my car and didn't wanna do the repair/switch.

i was told from gm that for my 2001 i would need a 2000 - 2002 anything else wouldn't fit.
it might... but that's what i was told.

anyhow i had to go to buffalo to grab it as nobody in/ around toronto has one and they were asking 200 -250 for one because of the work to pull it and none had one uncracked to sell.

mine is graphite.

So I wonder why GM says that 2003+ wont interchange with 2000-2002. I bet its small changes. Does anyone know for sure what the difference is?

He asked about the bezel tho. you CANNOT swap out just the bezel from 95-99 - 2000-2005. you HAVE to change out the whole lower dash+bezel in order for him to be able to have the 2000-2005 dash. the top dash pad however he can still use. they ARE interchangeable.

Ethan- im almost POSOTIVE that theere is not ANYTHING different from 2000-2005. ive been in bothe cars. and had the dashes off bothe cars (2002 and 2004) and there identicle to eachother.

anyways theres the info. in order to have the 2000+ dash you need to swap the WHOLE lower dash out because it DOES sit lower and designed a little different.
