i plan on cutting that much off of the bottom and was just curious if yall thought this will work? would everything still mount just fine?

It'll mount just fine.....but you'll have a huge gap at the bottom
i can work with that. lol. thanks
Why dont you just cut 2 inches in the same curve as the bottom is right now. Cutting it flat like that is going to create gaps. Measure 2 inches from the bottom every inch and mark. That way u get the same line when u cut as the factory line.
i went with an 1 1/2 for starters. thanks for the tip.
won't that mess things up with the shifter though? the base for the shifter is made out of steel. i think if you're going to be lowering the center piece you're going to have to fiberglass a spot for the shifter... might look weird but i'm interested in this idea
maybe an explanation as to why you're doing this would help us to explain. if you cut the bottom its going to sit up really high and look retarded. if you plan on 'lowering' the console, you'll have to modify the front two brackets and the bolt holes inside the console as well...
well.........the factory console height is to high for my taste. i'm very aware that i have to modify the brakets. thanks
thast going to be a crap load of work to make look right for not much diffrence if your really wanting to actually lower the center console your going to have to do something with the emergency brake because lowering it that much is going to most likely be a big issue not to mention just dealing with the mounting brackets themsevles.

It is going to sit the same height as stock, but with a huge gap at the bottom. Think about it. The mounting points are just under the it. It will rest on top of the mounting points and will look like total a$$
yea cutting the bottom off does nothing for making the counsle lower. you have to actually change the mounting brackets also
hrmm..
Well, whatever you do- just be careful because if you cut 2' off the bottom of the console, you'll have a huge gap underneath when it mounts up!!
Haha
Hey this is just a quick idea would't it be easier to just cut off from the top, you could follow the lines with 2 pecils taped on a third so that you would get the same shape at the top for mounting and still get a lower center console

That doesn't fix the front mounting point.
The only way you can (properly) lower your console (as the OP already knows) is to modify the mounting points.

looking at your profile it says you have an auto, why not get a manual center console, the arm rest is lower
^^^how much lower? i had no idea. i havent started cutting yet. working on evil eyes. got them cut out last night. one project at a time. lol
