I have a harness bar and Tenzo R racing seats and I'm looking for a functional 4 point harness.
mounting the lap belts will be pretay easy, mount them to where the seat belt and buckle attach, or right to the rear bolts for the seat, for the sholder belts I was thinking iter somethign that will plug into the rear seat belt buckle or remove the rear seat belt buckle and use that mounting point to attach the sholder harnesses. I took some rough measurements and Isholder belts to the rear seat buckle area would need to be roughly 70-75 inches long, and the lap betls about 25" each. I've never bought or even locked into harnesses so any help would be apreciated.
well i dont know about 4 pt harnesses, but i love my corbeau cam lock 5 pt's, im using tenzo r rally seats and a harness bar from RD fabs. for the passenger side, all i have to do is make a mounting point for the crotch strap, a 3"x3" steel plate welded to the floor with a grade 8 nut welded to it, however on the driver side, (since GM had to be retarded and put the buckle on the seat frame) i have to do the same thing for the crotch strap and make a third mounting plate to be welded in opposite of the mounting location on the passengers side. and of course the harness bar will take care of the shoulder straps. this is the proper way to do it, mounting plates and a harness bar, just dont do it half assed no matter what you do because its your life.........literally.

I didn't say anythign about half assing it...
I'm not gonna use the crotch strap, I'm gonna use the rest of the belts, I have a harness bar already and the back seat belt mount works just fine for mounting, I'm not gonna mount seat belts to the harness bar itself. If it was a roll bar/cage yeah, but the RD Fabs bar... no. Where did you mount the sholder straps to?
Hey Darkstars. I have a Sparco 4pt camlock I got really cheap from an out of business company. You can get a Schroth harness who actually makes Sparco and some others. Really good quality. Camlocks aren't necessary, just more convenient. I mounted mine to the rear seat anchors in a crossed fashion. The installation instructions are included with your harness when you buy it. I mounted the lap belt to the lower b-pillar and the other side to my SRT-4 seatbelt anchor. I'm not sure about the seats you have, but you should be able to make it work since they are highly adjustable in length. This setup will be fine for SCCA autox events and all other events that I have run this year. Again, your harness will have the do's and don'ts in the manual when you buy.
If you want any more info PM me or ask and I'll do my best to help.
PS...your Toyo fenders still available? My car is silver too

i put the shoulder straps on the harness bar.

so is it safe to mount them on hte harness bar or not?

if yor harness bar is certified to hold a harness then yes, if the harness bar was not certified it basically means that you are taking your life into your own hands. if i was using a harness bar for daily driving or track use i'd make sure it was certified myself.

Corbeau
Check their site -- they have a bunch of different kinds and I bet you'd be able to find one that would work.
If I remember right, their 5 point are certified too.

why would you even have a harness bar if you aren't gonna use it to mount harnesses?
I was going to use it as a pivot point so the harness is at a safe angle to hold you back not down and thast it, I wasn't planing on moutning the harness to the RD Fabs bar
yea, the corbeau harnesses come SFI certified, the tag is on almost each belt......lol but i love mine. and as far as the rdfabs bar goes, i figured the amount of force placed upon the bar at point of impact from 100mph, using my weight ect....and then i put the bar through a test using a hydraulic ram to replicate the same amount of preasure and the bar held up fine. you also have to remember that the bar doesnt take most of the force, the lap belts do. but its basically what ever your comfortable with.
