So i just put on new 96 power doors on my gf's car. She has a 95 z24. It was rebuilt and they snipped the wires going to the doors and put manual doors on it.
I just wired everything on the left door and there is one problem. the door unklocks, but dosn't lock. Now... there is an extra beige and grew wire on the door, they come from the switch for the power locks. The other grey and beige wires that come from the solinoid are hooked upto the grew and beige wires on the car.
Basically my big question is. Since the doors unlock.... would that mean that the wires are hooked up right, but the relays arent working?
I'm guessing by the wire colors that you have 5 wires on each switch? Correct? The 5-wire system doesn't use relays for the door locks, but the wires do interlace back and forth between the two switches. I'll try to find my haynes/chiltons as I cant remember which wires go where on those damn door lock switches...
Ok Thanks! Are you sure about the relays though? I mean, i understand how the buttons in the car may not use relays.. but she has keyless. There are 2 relays, one in the right front. and one in the left rear of the car.
Bump!
I need help please!
I think i just fied the BCM....... I was being stupid and put some wires together that shoudn't goto gether.... Now theres no clicking from the relays when i hit the button... and the sterio dosnt work! SOME ONE PLEASE HELP ME!
Yeah i checked all the fuses..... There's not like a hidden BCM fuse is there? I checked all the fuses in the fuse pannel on the drivers side, and on the fuse pannel in the engine bay......
I'm just going to assume i fired it... anyways... I'll go get a new one.. are these things interchangeable as long as they look the same? or do i have to make sure it comes from a 1995 z24 only?
95 would be no fun.. alot of @!#$ changed in 96 i think
dont quote me on it tho
I think all 95's are the same.
The wires for door lock and unlock should be lock( lt blue) and unlock(white) also locks are mastered on the passenger side. Those wires should be in the kick panel. I'm not sure what it means by those two colors since it's a 5 wire system, I pulled that up here on my computer at work. but I'd check that out.
also, on 5 wire systems, the switch basically uses two wires for lock and two for unlock. one wire sends positive and one sends negative, depending on what the switch is doing. You have to test, and you have to know what the wires are supposed to do before you do. Personally I hate working on cars with this system because I always get confused and it's a huge hassle. Buy a keyless entry system from a store that has the module in it that automatically does that for you. It's pretty plug and play with instructions. The Viper line we carry here at work is pretty good.
