Steering wheel issues

Ok heres the deal. I was searching the forums for a while and i finally found the right part number for isottas' hub adaptor for my 03 cavy, or so i thought. Even their web site says it works with the 03 Ls model. P/N# (BX 5420 C) Hub Kit Boxer Chevrolet.
So i went ahead and ordered it and patiently awaited its arrival. It finally came in the mail and i was as happy as a fat girl in mickey d's ordering off the dollar menu. Now i have been a mechanic for sometime now and even owning my own shop and taking precautions on customers cars as to not f*ck any thing up that we do or replace. But when you say something fits goddamn it, it should fit. So any way back to my topic. I go to remove the airbag and all of gm's little wonders surrounding the stock wheel. and i finally mount up the hub getting ready to cRANK down on the 21mm nut to tighten it to the steering shaft. i proceed to tighten the bolt with my titanium impact 1/2 in drive and to my suprise after i was done its the wrong spline dimensions on the damn part. so now im left with a stripped out steering wheel adapter and worst of all a very expensive stripped out steering shaft. but to my suprise that little nut holds the steering wheel to the shaft pretty good. i removed the hub to see what had happened. apparently there are two sections on the hub adapter one has splines at the beginning and the other is tapper ed and smooth. when i pryed it off i noticed that it had cut its own spline marks in the hub adapter while being cranked down on but it still makes no contact with the stock splines on the shaft. so what im really left with is the constant fear of driving along and turning the wheel and the tires not turning with it. This isnt really a post that needs be replied to just kind of a warning to stop and check what your doing before you do it. so all in all just be careful when performing mods. anything can happen also if you buy the baer rear disc conversion expect your parking brake to not hold properly.
