Ok well i have an 02 z24 and all the screws are in and i put it back together but there is a big space between the window and the top of the door panel. Not sure if its correct. Im pretty sure i did something wrong, thanx in advance
when you install it, you should be able to hang the panel on that window seam without it being attached with the screws or plastic push pins. make sure you have that lip from the panel hanging over the door seam to meet the window.
does that make sense?
same thing happened to mine after i replaced my broken window. it was on then when i put it back together it looked like it popped back out. all i did was push hard on it and it popped back in.
so when u say hang u mean the lip piece on top of the door seam? cuz when i put the lip into the clip, the whole door panel doesnt line up at the end, Does that make sense?
not sure i follow. damn i wish i was home to grab a pic for ya...this is tough one to explain
do u possibly have a pic?
no sorry i dont. if u can take a pic i would appreciate it, wheneva u can
ill try and hook that up for you tonight when i get out of work
thanx, i appreciate that....
there should be 3 gold steel clips that attach on top of the seem of the door (right where the window rolls up), they have a "channel" that the upper edge of the door panel sits in, you'll have to press down to get it to seat right, then just line up all the plastic retainers, gently shove the areas where the retainers are in towards the door, after they are nice and secure, put all the nessesary screws back in.
well when i took it apart i only had 1 clip, i have power windows if that helps out
was unable to grab a pic as i was priming the car last night.
but the gold clips arent a "must have" for everything to fit. those came off the first time i took the panels off 3 years ago, and i never put them back in. doors have been off 100+ times since with no issues
ok well do u stick the lip (the rubber part attached to the panel) into the clip? And also for the volt tester how does that work b.c i want to make sure its the motor and not the switch....Sorry for the confusion, but we all gotta start somewhere
You'll want to attach the black probe to a -ground and attach the red to the one of the pins on the switch. When you press the switch (by the way, have it still connected to the connector. If you have good long probes, you can just slide them into the back of the plug) you'll want to see 12 volts coming through the switch. Test both pins(or however many there are, I dont remember) If no 12 volts when you activate the switch, it's bad. if you get 12 volts, it's your motor. Or possibly bad wiring in between the switch and the motor. You can test the same wires close to the motor if you are unsure.
ok i can handle that, for the ground can i use the ground that i use for my neons? Or would another location be better?
Ok i took the gold clips off and the panel went on perfect, and i tested the switch and my driver side doesnt work, but my passenger side does so my question is do i need a whole new switch? Thanx in advance
That would work, but a closer ground would be the bare metal at the door hinge. that should work, if you don't register a good ground there, though, you can always use what you stated.

That would be what I would assume. Best way is to try to find one at a junk yard so you aren't out alot of money if you test it and it's not the switch.
