I have a 30gig Ipod and was thinking about making a custom holder for it in the center console im sure it has been done before so if someone has some pics to give me some ideas postem up thx
I have mine under the center console. I do not have power windows, so there is a little holder that lifts out and it sits in there. So I do not have to worry about lookie-lues
Yea thats where i plan on putting it, i have it sitting here infront of me im just trying to figure out how im going to design it. thinking fiberglass rez should do the trick
I was thinking the exact same thing.. Im a little sick of having to touch my Ipod for it to not have any distortion in the reception, dont ask me, I guess its the junky ass receiver I bought. I really want to get one of those Ipod hookups for your car where you just plug it in, I have just about every Ipod accessory you can get, so I already have the input plugs and what not. Does anybody know anybody whose trying to get rid of an Ipod auto hookup? Anyways, Sean, I hope you post up some pics of your project so you can help me do mine, Once I get my new console Ill start working on something like that as well.
Yea ill have in done in a week and post some pics
Most of the major head unit manufacturers have an ipod adapter for the head unit, allowing you to control the ipod from the head unit or with the remote for the unit. Some of the new ones have it already built in. I have one for my pioneer head unit and I have the cable going to the glove box with the ipod totally out of sight.
i went around looking for ipod holder but all i found and bought was a mobile holder.hook it in the a/c blower grille.works fine plus i have the pioneer with an aux(phone jack) outlet.try it...converted the fast and furious movie into mp4, and just watching it while waiting for my gf get off from work
That looks really half ass IMO plus, Why do you have the bottom adapter plugged in? What is it plugged into? Mine hooks up the top where the headphone jack is.

I may be wrong, but I thought the dock connectors were capable of delivering a true, dedicated "line-out" signal - meaning no fiddling with volume and tone controls on the iPod itself to get a clean signal to whatever reciever you're connecting it to. From a sound engineering perspective, you'd want this over the headphone-out.
It's OT, but I bastardized a setup using my stock CD/tape combo deck. Cassette adapter runs within the dash plate, up to a remote control mounted above the dash vents. Cabling from the remote to the MD unit (in glove box) is then tucked away, relatively out of sight.
Is it the best? No. But it's a relatively simple setup that looks rather nice and works well.
Too busy driving to mod...
I have it sitting in there, I pulled it out so you could see it. It is wired to
All controls run thru the stereo
It is not visible
i use that pioneer adapter too. it lags a bit but it's better then messing with the ipod itself
And you can get the clear/loud sound you can get when you have it hooked up to a stereo or computer??? Because its at least half the volume less the way I have it hooked up now... I need to get my hands on one of those Pioneer interfaces...
yea i have the pioneer one too and its not that expensive, i bought mine from Best Buy for 20 and just ran it under my console and have it in the compartment under the arm rest.
"sometimes the respect is more important..."
I have a shuffle, and I was thinking about fiberglassing in a jack so that I would have the jack sticking out of the dash over the HVAC controls, and recessed a bit so I could just snap in the iPod and go...
i put mine in my armrest lid ill post pics when i get them not completly finished still want to make some kind of covering but mine is just a nano so its perfect but im sure you could make it work for a 30 with some cutting
