i have an 01 cavi base model (no tach) are the clusters interchangeable, i want to get a cluster from a junkyard that has a tach is this a true plug and play swap or is there some rewiring
there are plug and play 2000 - up, but I am not sure if you have the wiring for a tach, (is yours an automatic?) I have a 2005 and plugged a 2001 in just fine
5 spd no tach? that is odd.
like i said base model, that i wanted to know how much is involved cause i want a tach but i don't want one of those pedestal one cause they just look tacky
My car was a PURE BASE, any way you can get one in the classifieds for $25 give it a shot. They are simple to put in
Gauge for $25
i know they're simple i've taken it out many times, i was wondering about the tach conversion
yea its a simple swap no rewiring you just have to reset the passlock which is very easy. i think you can find the info on passlock in the library or faq.
passlock? Why, I have swapped mine 3 times and just plugged and went and everything was fine. Or is that because of tach, he did not have one and now he will?
Also, why would they build a Stick with no tach? Think it was an automatic and one time??
no it came factory with a 5spd and no tach

Mine came 5 speed no tach too....They're definitely out there, and I think they're more common in Canada.
actually, it was much more common for the autos to have a tach than the sticks. but yes, swap the cluster, and it will work, not a problem.

no need to reset the passlock in the '00+ with a cluster swap. In pre-'00 you might have to though, I'm not sure on those as mine is a '00 and when I swapped mine in it plugged right in and started right up, tach works great to this day. Paid about 40 bucks shipped for the cluster off eBay.
