Just paint yours, but be careful messing with needles.

yes 00+ needles should not be removed unless you know what you are doing or you will damage the cluster and have to get a new one.
If you don't want to paint them, get Cavi cluster through Blackcat with a LED conversion to what ever color you want. The cavi needles are clear and will show through the color as opposed to the Fire having painted needles.

- Cavi cluster and Fire clusters are interchangeable but gauges with mechanical odos will have to be reset since the info is set on the cluster. 00+ are stored on the BCM and are digital so there for you can interchange with no problem. You run the risk of odo fraud if you decide to sell the car in a pre-00 if you don't have the cluster reset some how. I also think some models between the 98 Fire and Cavi have different cluster set ups so you may have to do some custom stuff like changing the dash console and stuff to make it all work out. To put it plainly, it is possible.

- For HVAC you can paint them with stainglass paint or replace the bulbs with colored or LED bulbs

- Blackcatcustom is a site run by a guy named alex how does custom work on gauge clusters. Good man, good work.

For more info on these subjects run a search the site first. It is littered with info, posting topics over and over lead to slower responses.

edit on myself.....

If you have a 98 with a digi odo you can get it sent out I believed and re-flashed with the correct information.
