Ill give you my opinion and thats all it is is an opinion
cheaping out is the main reason this site is full of very tacky cheap looking cars...... Universal interior stuff like seat and steering wheel covers more times than not make the car look tacky. A good rule to live by in modifying your car is... if its from a cheap auto parts store, its gonna look like crap 9 times out of 10
You can get racing seats pretty cheap anymore, but the cheaper ones are just that, cheap...... but they do look better than some kind of universal seat cover from autozone. Id suggest a set of Katzkin seat covers if you wanna go that route but they are pretty expensive. Very well worth it though.

Very true.... I was and still am in the same position as you. I am finishing and graduating from my fourth year at Architecture School and will start my Master's studies this coming fall. I have been have been boasting my GXP conversion since 2005 and am still no wheres near complete due to funding, obviously. I have gone in the dark a bit about the project but I still intend to do what I want but the right way, just a little at a time.
I cheaped out once, bought Ichibahn clip on pedals, looked cheap and eventually I broke them. So I have small ichibahn stickers on my rear quarter windows as a constant reminder not to do it half assed. Since then I have purchased drill on replacement brushed aluminum pedals from Momo and could be happier. Cost about 10x as more as the clip ons, but look 1000000000x better.
Moral of the story. Don't cheap out if you really are serious about developing your car into something you can be proud of.

well said. the cheaper the seat, the more likely it will be garbage. cheap seats=serious injury in a crash.
