Speedo and Odometer stopped working... HELP?!
Saturday, June 23, 2007 7:42 AM
Yeah... just like the title says. I can't figure out what the problem is!!! I don't have a speedo, nor an odo and it's my daily driver! Is it a sensor of some sort? If it is a sensor, does it show up on the PCM as faulty?

Checked all of my fuses... and besides... even if it was a fuse, which one would it be? I don't think there's a fuse for Speedo and Odo... is there?

You are correct to assume so. All of the lights work... everything but the speedo and odo. It's actually starting to piss me off lol

And um... my bad.

Check to make sure no wires have came out under the dash. If good there check the speedo cable or sensor that runs to you trans and make sure it has not broke, GM's are notorious for brakeing. Some came with a cable and some came with a sensor. The sensor is the easiest and cheapest to fix. And always use AC DELCO parts!!!

I had this happen to me last year after taking my car in for an oil change. I noticed a few hundred feet down the road that my speedometer wasn't working as well as I lost all my traction control. I took it right back and the guy said they knocked a sensor loose from underneath the car while doing the oil change. This might be the same sensor thats throwing off your gauges. Not too sure exactly what sensor it was or where exactly it was located but I hope that helped a little.

You assume correct!

I guess tomorrow I'll just start ripping through my dash and wires to the tranny and see if it's one of them. If not... I'm lost lol

I'll let you guys know what I come up with tomorrow night!
