Question about gauge cluster W/ tach

So ive done a search already but im still not exactly clear. I have a 95 2.2 J that is the base model with no tach in the dash. I recently went to a junkyard for some parts and there is a 95 or 96 cavi RS that has a guage cluster with a tach.

My question is... according to the other post, all I have to do is pull out my original cluster and replace it with a cluster that has a tach and everything will work? Obviously along with swapping out the odometer. Once again... pull out old non-tach gauges and replace with factory tach guage cluster....no re wire or anything?

Thanks for any and all help! I also just bought an intake kit off of e-bay for 27 bucks shipping and all. Anyone know if these actually improve fuel mileage?

cluster: you may have to do the passlock relearn procedure, its in the library.

intake: not enough to notice. it'll make more noise, but thats about all.

Let me tell you passlock sucks.... I forgot that one day workin' on my ex's Z, and I was pissed cause I sat there for about an hour looking at everything that could of been wrong instead of that.

So the cluster will work?

another question. I think the car the tach is coming from is a 96 that uses passlock, however mine is a 95 that does not use passlock system. will I still be ok? or am I looking at a headache wiring and dying problems

It should. I have a 95 Z24 I could check on, but I don't know where my darn other 97 Cluster is.
