Stupid Door Panels

Hey guys, I just bought an old 94 Cavalier Z24 a couple weeks ago and I'm trying to replace the power window motor on the drivers side. Me and my dad have spent about two hours trying to figure this out, I've tried searching here, I've read through that sticky and gone to TFM and read their guide. But we can't get the stupid door panel off. My dad owned an auto repair shop for several years, so it's not like we're compete dunces at this either.

Anyways, I've gotten the bottom part of the door panel off, unscrewed all the screw i can find, but I can't figure out how to get the part behind the door handle off. We unscrewed the screw there, but we can't get the lock handle to disconnect from the metal bar (I have power locks). We also can't seem to figure out how the clips work. We got the one by the door latch off, but broke it in the process.

Any help would be appreciated. This thing is frustrating the heck out of us because we know it's just something simple we missed.

Well I don't know for sure on the older one, but most of the time those are riveted in. Do you see anything metal that is like a ring with a rod in the middle of it? Cause if so you have to drill those out to get that out. Most new GM motors come with new rivets, but the cheaper ones send bolts instead cause most don't have a revets gun/crimp. I hope that helps. Sorry I'm not sure on the order models.

Hey, thanks a lot man. It was riveted, we just couldn't figure out which ones to take out for a while. Those have got to be the stupidest engineered door panels I've ever seen.

But it's all working now, nice to have two windows

Thanks again for your help
