After my last track event I decided the stock water temp gauge just wasn't going to cut it. The water temp according to my OBD-II Scan Gauge was 230F and the stock needle was barely past 195F. I needed to add another aftermarket gauge in addition to my existing Autometer oil pressure, oil temperature, and volt meter, but the old pod was full. No offense to anyone here with them, but I don’t like the look or function of A-pillar pods so I decided to build my own.
Here’s a pic of the first custom pod I built which was mounted beneath the radio. I used 3 pieces of aluminum tubing covered in fabric.
It worked fine, but the gauges were hard to see (at a glance) while on track so I built this one. I used 1/16" sheet steel from Lowes and painted it with the VHT wrinkle stuff.
This time I wanted to see what I could do using textured ABS plastic. I used an electric heat gun and Dremel to do all the work. After lots of shaping and fitting I got it done. I need to get the new water temp gauge from my friend before I install everything, but here's how it turned out.

"Racecar spelled backwards is still Racecar"
i love the gauge pods. i wanna do that to but where the center heater vent is.
i like the idea but not the placement
looks good, i was always thinkin of doin something like that but a little lower profile and maybe inset into the strip in front of the winshield, i know they have that cover so shouldnt be hard to do....hmmm i just might be doing that soon lol
