yea i just bought an 05 sunfire the speedometer does work? what cause this?

i assume you mean doesn't work. and about that, i don't know. is it the speedometer or the odometer?
sometimes if you hit the top of the dash pretty good right above it....it shocks it into working

the gears are getting stuck, if the needle gets stuck or doesn't move then the gears are sticking and you either can take it all apart and lube the gears up or just replace the cluster.
