Heater controls

Hey guys, I have an 04 cav. No matter what setting I have the heater on, if I have it to blow out of the floor or the vent of if I switch it to defrost the air will only come out of the front vents. No matter where the control is facing it will only come out of the front vents. The green light will come on if you move it to defrost. So it's getting some kind of connection.Did any of you have this problem before. So far as to what I did. I thought it might be the heater control assembly. I managed to take the dash out and the radio bezel that surrounds the heater controls. There are two screws that hold the heater assembly in. I removed them and you can pull out the assembly about 2-3 inches. I can't get any further. It looks like there are screws that hold the actual plugs on. It looks impossible to take out. There is no room for any kind of screwdriver. Would any of you have any information that could help me here? And if this isn't the problem what else could it be. Thanks a million

You have a cut in your vacuum line somewhere. The vent selector is run off a vacuum line from the engine. Its a light tan colored on. I had this same problem last summer. I noticed i had a problem with mine but didn't care till i was having misfires with the car and tore the whole intake portion of the engine apart looking for a vac leak and stumbled across a nice hole. Check near your ABS unit, thats where i found the hole in mine.
