Rear seat belt help

Hey all --

I installed my GTO seats finally in the back of my car. They look great and are reallly comfortable (you gotta be kinda short to sit in them tho haha)

I have one problem that lies in the seatbelts.

There is a hole where they would come through the seat in the GTO (about the size of the plastic square connector on a J) but the GTO belts I assume are made to sit sturdy (like the ones on the front seats of our cars)

The J belts arent long enough to get through the seat, they barely come to the top of the seat, they connect, but it takes way too much work.

Is there another car that I can take just the bottom section of the belt from and use it on my car? I would think A GTO would be the same clasp, but im not sure, I dont want to go around pulling belts and keep finding out they dont fit.

Any ideas?

thanks!

would relocating the belt work? like mounting it in a different place closer to the hole in the seat?

I honeslty havent thought of that.

Would just welding a new bolt in there be safe enough though?

I dont anticipate slamming into anything with people in the back, but i dont want a weld to fail.

I dont feel like dropping the tank to slap a new bolt in just for this if i can avoid it.

i cant really say if it would hold or not...really depends on the weld, but my thought was dropping the tank and a hefty bolt thru the body.

but that is a PITA!

Eh, nobody does.. that's why they're 'accidents'.

Sorry.. I got nothing productive to add.

I agree thats why they are called accidents. I wonder if i would be able to get around dropping the tank, Is it possible at all to snake a bolt around it? ive never looked under the car back there. It would be about 2 inches (maybe less) forward of the stud thats in there now, and about 2 inches more towards the center of the car.

If i drilled a hole just through the metal and not into the tank, is it possible to snake a bolt around it? is there any room on top of the tank at all? It would have to be enough to get a nice sized washer up there as well.

Im going to look at it tonite if theres no one that knows, im going to try and get this done by this weekend so i can use the car to haul the g/f and some of her friends around.

thanks for the help so far!

I have a few pics from when I just dropped them in there, theyre more centered now and leaning back all the way and theres no gap between the bench and the back.

I wrecked my camera and have yet to get another one or this one fixed...

Old pics

Theyre used and a little worn, but theyre cleaned up and they look so good in the car you dont notice the blemishes. and theyre nice and comfy since theyre worn in a little.

I have yet to decide if If i want to do a tan/black combo or switch to all dark colors, but definately black carpet and black leather Yonaka Ronin seats are going in front.

Hope you like, despite old pics

I also removed the stock rear bench mount, so the bench site about 1.5" lower than it is in that pic, fits the car perfectly.

and yes, I hid the amp wires (i just noticed them in the pic now)
