Just mount it at the top of the foot wells so nobody on the road can see it. That was my weekend project (only with blue neons) and mounted a switch right behind the window switches so I can turn it off whenever I want without having to hunt for the switch. Worked like a charm. But yea, any lights comming from inside of a vehicle is a 'driving distraction' or something like that and you will get ticketed if you get caught with it on.

in my state (Indiana) you can have any color as long as the bulb it's self isn't showing..... but if the bulb is showing you can't have red, blue, or green.... the red and blue being for police and emergency vehicles and green being for search and rescue...

I'm not sure in NC.
All the police here say is; "Um. No"

No reason why, just "no"
So I guess.. no neons.

some states say that its not illegal to have them ..but its a good way to get pulled over, attracting attention to urself

happened many time to me in my old dodge neon got pulled over with blue then changed everything to green when the cop said it was ok....

two weeks latter it just gave another cop an exscuse to search my car... (COP) "are you a doctor macking a house call?" ... (ME) "I ididnt know doctors made house calls...lol" (COP) "step out of the car plese"

250 dollars later i didnt have any neons on my car..lol

but if you keep it at your feet you should be fine : )

it's not illegal if the cops can't see it,basically keep it out of the windows

perfect response. you shouldnt want to draw any more attention to yourself. if you want lighting keep it to a min and hidden. my whole floor lights up red but you cant see it unless you can see inside to the floor of the car

Rob,

Is it possible to email me how you wired it up, and what lights and such you used? I am intersted in doing this to my 2004 Cav, and I dont know where to start! I am new to the boards and have been searching for something that shows me where to start.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

ive been pulled over for my exhaust and had my blacklights on(under dash). cop didnt even notice.

mines wired up temperarely by using a switched 3-way split cigarette lighter in my center console. when i do my stereo i plan on wiring it with the head unit to the windsheild wiper fuse, with an override switch. that way it wont stay on with the keys out and you can turn it off when red and blue flash in your mirror.

what i'd like like to see is how people are mounting the driver side light. to keep it out of veiw its very close to my brake pedal, when other people drive my car they kick it down. anyone got a pic of that?

I switched all my interior bulbs in my old Grand Prix to red bulbs and never had a problem. BTW for a switch idea, my 69' Chevy C/10 has the highbeam switch on the floor. If someone wired one of those switches in and tucked it away, but still in an eazy spot to hit with your foot, i think would be a cool set-up.

i plan on doing LED's for all my interior lights after seeing a post about them. i think the c/10 foot switch would be a super sleeper way of activating nitrous. thanks for the idea. lol
