Wiring Gauge Pod?
Tuesday, February 05, 2008 3:19 PM
Ok so tomorrow i'm going to wire up the lights for my gauges in my gauge pod. has 3 wires, red, black, and yellow/orange. obviously the red is power and the black is ground but the yellow/orange wire is to remember which color of light i choose, where do i wire that? i tried searching but came up with nothing. please and thank you

if you're saying the yellow orange is for gauge illumination, you want to tap the parking light fuse with an add a fuse type deal.

no the yellow/orange wire is the memory wire so when i shut my car off and turn it back on, it remembers which color i had selected

i would guess thats what the power wire is for.

that orange/yellow should be illumination. if the red is power, black is ground, and orange/yellow was "memory" then how would the illumination turn on/off? that would mean you have constant power and they would never turn off

ok just finished. the red wire i just tapped into a fuse, the memory wire is what i tapped into my cluster, i jus had the two mixed up

actually if the red were "switched accessory" 12 volt like it is in radios and the yellow orange were memory then they would cut on and off with the key. This is pretty basic wiring on most accesories that need some kind of memory...

However, with these gauges I would say one of those does connect to illumination.

No way.

Hook the red wire up to Ign. so the gauges turn on with the car. Hook the yellow/orange wire up to constant voltage so when you turn your car off, it remembers what color you have it set on..

Its just like a car radio... Cmon fellas !!!

We read it, I was just making a point.

Red Devil, that was exactly what I was saying.

Looks like that's how he did them.

If they didn't have different colors that needed memory, I would be sure that one went to illumination. But in this case, I'm pretty sure he did it right.

red devil is correct its just like for a cd player, hook it up to ign/ acc so it turns on when the key is on
