so i'm trying to fit the rear deck in my 1996 cavalier. i ruined mine so i picked one up from a junkyard the other day. i'm trying to fit this deck back in and the damn thing wont go back in. is it possible that this deck is not made for my cavalier? really confused need some help please!
how exactly wont it go in? need more details.
if its from any 95-05 it will fit
I just want it back in stock and I can't figure out how to do it
well reverse the steps you took to get it out. what i do is put one corner in behind the side panel then bend in the middle and slide the other end in and its all done
I got it off a 96 cavalier and mine is a 96 it should work right they didn't make these without 3rd brake lights right
it will fit, and yes, they did make them without the 3rd brake light. since some cars have spoilers w/ the 3rd light
we cant really help you if you give us no details.
remove your side rear panels. it will make life easier

x a billion. if you cant get it to fit correctly otherwise, then take the extra time to remove the panels and seats and install the rear deck that way.
coming back in 2008...
I have the rear panels sides and seat removed it just i dont get how it lays in and also so Is it possible I got a rear deck from a cavalier with no third brake light?
also I'm going to post pictures later tonight
pics will help alot. it should just slide into place with ease. never had an issue with mine the MANY times its come out and gone back in
yea im just thinking right now what is wrong with this guy lol post pics because it should just lay right in no problems. esp. if you have the side panels out

Ok, so I'm assuming you have a third brake light on your car (not a spoiler third brake light). So, the only possible way it could not be fitting, after removing the entire rear interior, would be that you screwed up and got a rear deck from a Cavalier without a third brake light (where there would be a hump for the third brake light in the rear deck, it's now flush). That's an obvious reason as to why it would not fit.. there's no hump for the third brake light!
I never want to hear the words third brake light again.

i think thats what it is i have no hump in mine
damn looks like i gotta do work on it again
...that wasn't an obvious problem? I mean, you pust it back there and see that there is this huge brake light in the way and wonder "hmm...why isn't this fitting?"
for some reason i thought it would go under some clips there my mistake
