the trick is to use some really thin material.......... i used what they call "black whisper" its like a really thin vinyl..........

the picture is pretty much what they look like.... i did alot better than my last time working with vinyl because i used thicker material and its harder to lay in that groove where your elbow goes..... that is where you have to have patience.....

but the door panel on mine i a little messed up... the screws are showing a lil bit......

How did you reattach them so nicely, I have that done to mine and I used silicone and it doesn't fit back in real great.

Isn't that insert held in with melted plastic tabs? How did you reattach it to your car?

really small screws... lol but be careful they have a tendency to try to poke through the plastic

i used like 30 screws per insert they are alittle over a 1/4 inch long

You know you can use a soldering iron and "plastic weld" those back on, using the same little plastic clips. Just dont breathe the fumes

Just remelt the plastic and it will bond.

What did you use to make that elbow corner look so smooth? Any special spray adhesive?

Re: new door panel inserts

headliner spray adhesive....... it was like 20 bux for a can the size of a spray paint can...........

its twice as strong and it is high temp..........

the panel piece had a little bit of silicone left on it from the last time i cover these pieces
so i think the leftover silicone helped it bond
i sprayed both the panel piece and then the fabric
i layed it all down starting from the front to the back then once all of it was laid then i went back with a hairdryer and heated it up allowing the glue to dry faster and while it was hot i smoothed all the wrinkles out of the elbow portion......

just be patient and take your time......

trust me its better than getting mad and throwing it like i did the last time i did this like 2 years ago

bad idea trust me, they break easier than you would think

nice....... post some pics when your done

the trick to mine that helped me was the thin fabric

and it stretches fairly easy you just have to heat it up

Hey Awesome work they look very pro.

I was wondering if you could post pics of the screws and setup for puttuing the plastic pieces back together?

I would really appreciate it because I am about to start working on my door panels.

the screws are the worst part but ill post some up for you..........

once i have some new door panels ill re-do a the inserts because i now have a plastic welder available to me.

Great I would really like to see what you did. How did you pull the two pieces apart I don't want to just yank them apart for fear of breaking the panels? i was thinking either drilling them or using a crappy soldering pen I have. What would be great is if I had a dremel tool.

dremel would be awesome........ i just broke mine though.....

it was sitting in my garage and i backed over it.... yea bad stuff

i wouldnt recommend what i did but ill tell you anyways.......... i used a sharp box blade and cut around the clips till it came loose... lol dont try that it looks gross and in turn i had to use screws to hold the insert back in because of that method.... i would find somebody with a plastic welder and that would do the best hold and cleanest finish..........

ill get pics when i get home at like 5

That would be great I would love to see how you did it. If i don't like it maybe we could work something out if you could platic weld them back together for my compensation would of course be in order.
