I was thinking about starting my own little project of reupholstering my seats in vynil.
YES, I am a good sewer.
Does anyone have any suggestions, tips, or anything of the sort you think i should know?

as long as you are good at sewing, you should be good.

pull the stock fabric wrap off the seat, and cut new fabric to match each piece of the puzzle. sew back together, done

First, if you have a regular table-top sewing machine, the vinyl is going to raise hell with it. I did my friend's seats a couple of years ago in vinyl, and my wife's machine hated every stitch. Broke quite a few needles, and I would have gotten stronger ones, but the way the machine was acting, I figured better to break a few needles than the machine. I had to get it tuned up for her afterward.

One thing I'll tell you is that when taking apart the factory ones, use a hair dryer to warm it up, and you'll have a better chance of not tearing the foam when you pull off the fabric. The top of the bottom cushion, and the front of the back cushion are both put on with spray adhesive. On a different note regarding the adhesive, when reassembling, put the covers on, then find the points where the cushions indent (the detail of the seat), and mark them with tape. This will make it easier once you put spray adhesive on the back of the vinyl, so you know where to press the cover in. After it's marked, pull the cover off, spray the cushion and the vinyl, and then start at the middle and work your way out, making sure to press the vinyl all the way, evenly, into each crevice. Let it sit for a while before you pull the rest of the cover down over the cushion, so that the adhesive has time to set.

I would also recommend picking up an upholstery stapler (unless you already happen to have one), because I reused the factory ones and it was a royal biatch opening them and re closing them with pliers LOL.

yeah your biggest concern will be is your sewing machine strong enough to stich vinyl.

Just make sure you get an industrial strength machine. You can usually find some decent ones at Pawn shops. If I had the space for one, I would get one and do my own as well. Good luck!

SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!
