Where to mount Toyo mirror switch in a Sunfire?
Wednesday, October 31, 2007 3:42 PM
Next month I will be getting a set of Toyota power folding mirrors for my Sunfire Sedan. The only concern I have is where to mount the switch.

I was thinking somewhere on the door panel since there has to be enough clearance behind for the actual switch and obviously I want it somewhere that is within reach while being out of the way and of course... looking stock. I was thinking of one of the two areas circled in the picture below...

Any other ideas and / or input are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You could, but for a sunfire I'm sure you can wire the power part for the same stock switch, and use the lock power to fold them in like Mike did in the post about wiring them. His name is Mike Pardiso(sp) on the last name.

The toyo switch panel is square. I don't think it would look that great in the Sunfire's door panel. I'd do like said above and use the stock switch and power locks to fold them. My car didn't come with power mirrors, and my the switch that came with my toyo mirrors didn't have the pigtail that plugs in to it. So I have yet to wire mine.

This idea sounds much better than trying to figure out a good spot for the switch. I tried searching real quick in the members section for Mike, but nothing came up. I guess I'll try searching through the forums now. Hopefully I can find him.

Yeah, I think I am going to wire them up to the switches as stated above. It'd be cool to have the mirrors fold in when I lock the doors .

That's where I was thinking of at first, but there's really not enough room anywhere, plus the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of wiring them up to the stock mirror switch and the door locks .

Well if you just look for his post about wiring toyota mirrors would be faster. I had his old set, and then I sold it since then So just try to find it. I think his name that pops up for author is 901 Z.

Yeah, I had searched yesterday and found his instructions, but they are to wire the power adjustable parts to the provided switch, not the stock one.

He did say this in one thread though: yes you can use the stock switch to operate the mirrors. the wires to move the actual mirros is the same as stock.. the folding part is what is diffrent. you just need to ground the relay box with a quick ground. not a constant. i use it with my power door locks.

I am still totally lost on how I would go about wiring them to the stock mirror switch. I know nothing about wiring .

I've not looked at my mirrors in a long time, but there is 7 wires on each Toyota mirror, and there is only 6 on a stock one. If you match up color to color on the mirrors with just using taps your stock wiring will work the toyota mirrors. The extra wire is the folding power...

Thanks. I'm sure it'll be easier to figure out once I actually have the mirrors to look at .

When I wired mine I did it custom, made my own harness/relay and used the factory switch along with a switch to open and close the mirrors. I dont have a diagram for it since I didnt bother to write down what wire i was running where. =/
