I realize I might sound like an idiot asking this, but I just recently got a new bezel for my 99 Cav and have no idea how to remove the lighter socket! Ive tried searching for how to's but havent found anything and would rather not break anything by fiddling with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

unplug from the rear and it pushes out of the front.

I have had mine apart for awile if memory serves me correctly. I have always shaved them after removal.

Remove the electrical connector from it first. Then I think there's a plastic clip that needs to be removed. Now, look closely at the back of the socket; There is a small hex nut holding the socket together. Unscrew it carefully, and try to hold the assembly together. Pay close attention to how the washer/spacers are positioned, because you have to reassemble it the same way. The socket should separate into 2 main pieces, front and back. Then install it in the new bezel.
