Steering Wheel Bolt - Need Size
Thursday, March 12, 2009 4:01 PM
Can anyone tell me the size of the main bolt in the center of the steering wheel? A friend of mine accidently hit it with a hammer while helping me remove the old steering wheel. The first 2/3 threads are damaged and I need to put a die on it however I don't have the correct size for some reason.

Looking forward to any help?

Incase anyone else runs across this in the future, I will post pictures and a size tomorrow whenever I get the correct die to fit it.

I know it's bigger then 1/2" which is the biggest size in my set.

Bolt size is a 9/16" N.Course thread which can be fixed with a simple die, or a "thread chaser".

I had to order a die online because none of my local hardware/auto stores stocked them. I should have more of an update on this in a week or so once the die arrives.

Well exactly a week later the die arrived, and 10 minutes after opening the package the job was done.

Although this picture isn't the clearest you can still see the threads, and now I can install my steering wheel once the lower dash is finished.
